INNOVATIVE AND AFFORDABLE SOLUTIONS FOR INSECT CONTROL

ISCA has been a pioneer for more than two decades in creating, developing and delivering innovative and affordable products and solutions for insect control in agriculture. It believes it is possible to grow food for a growing world without harming nature and without endangering human health.

Its products use biocommunication to monitor and manage insects that cause damage to crops, always looking for alternatives to spraying insecticides on cultivated areas to achieve better results with less impact. They are environmentally friendly because they take an approach that controls insects without harming the environment. Biocommunication contribute to clean, safe and sustainable food production.

In its laboratories in Brazil, the USA, and its global partners, ISCA develops a series of products based on so-called semiochemicals, substances exhaled by insects and plants. Thanks to these natural compounds, insects know who to mate with, which plants to attack, and which to avoid. Through the intelligent use of sex pheromones, a type of semiochemical, it is possible to attract them into traps, where they are eliminated through reduced amounts of insecticides, or to prevent their reproduction by creating a mating disruption to prevent males and females from meeting.

Based on this innovative approach to attract-and-kill technique, ISCA develops products that are used widely in extensive cultivation, such as cotton, corn, and soybeans, as well as intensive crops such as fruits and vegetables in more than 30 countries. The products are present in the apple crop fields of southern Brazil and the soybean fields of Mato Grosso, the vineyards of Argentina, and date farms in California or Saudi Arabia. Throughout the American continent, the solutions offered by the company are gaining increasing importance in major crops such as soybeans, corn, and cotton.

Besides agriculture, the portfolio also includes forest protection, with efficient solutions against bark beetles and gypsy moths. Urban pests, such as moths and houseflies, are also tackled through the use of semiochemicals. In defense of public health, ISCA develops technologies to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito, vector of diseases such as dengue, zika, and chikungunya, and Anopheles, transmitter of malaria.

In recent years, consumers, companies, regulatory agencies and governments have definitely incorporated the defense of sustainable development into their agendas. A new stance, which places the indiscriminate use of insecticides as a practice to be overcome. ISCA is proud to be at the forefront of these efforts.
